Summer time means outdoor parties and the favorite summer holiday party is the July 4th Party!
Traditionally, Americans love to host this type pf gathering with their neighbors and form a Block Party. This way the work is shared and it is a great excuse to get to know the families that live on either side of you.
If you plan to block off your street or cul-de-sac, you will need to get a permit from your local Police Department first. Send out a letter to your neighbors several weeks before July to get the ideas started and to form a small organizing team. You may be surprised at how much people love to get together and go beyond the normal “wave-at-my-neighbor” relationship.
The most important ingredient is lots and lots of good food. Barbeque burgers, corn on the cob, potato salad and watermelon are must-haves. Doodlebuckets also has a great selection of yummy snack packages that are decorated for the Fourth of July!
Ask a parent to organize some fun games for the kids and adults after the meal. This will help pass the time while waiting for dark and fireworks to begin!
Don’t forget to delegate a clean-up crew also. No one wants to wake up on July 5th to a messed up street or driveway.
